Travel Diary of Deosai - 2015 Deosai is known for being the land of giants and the roof of the world.  Given this fact, most of its guest are often seeking for adventure and beautiful landscapes, and yes! I happen to be one of those people. One of the exciting memories of my life are attached with this charming place. We camped here two full moon nights near the shore of Sheosar Lake and under the amazing Deosai sky with only thin sheet of a tent separating me from the elements and it was such a memorable once-in-a-lifetime experience.  Deep silence of the night was closely surrounding us like we were being captivated in a jar where nobody can access us. Winter in Skardu

Skardu is nowadays the coldest place in Pakistan. Temperature in Skardu has dropped down up to minus 21 degree Celsius in recent days.   T he heavy snowfall has stagnated life in the region. If the decreasing temperature is to be controlled then the government has to provide alternatives for the heating system, i.e; by providing the region with a mega project of Natural Gas Pipeline.

The Final Destination in North

Yes, beyond the walls of HinduKush and surrounded within the great wall of Himalayas and Karakoram is your final destination, if you are adventurous by nature. Your way to destination is quite challenging, you either have to travel by road, a journey of 25-30 hours, or you can just fly off above the mountains to reach this magical place which is known as SKARDU. Today I am not writing to describe the beautiful landscapes this place but the goal is to highlight the basic problems which a tourist or locals have to face to reach Skardu. The people usually travel by air to avoid the difficulties which is faced while travelling by road. But to our dismay, PIA never fails us. PIA plane at Skardu Airport People usually pay heavy fares, especially in summers, to travel by the only airline that fly to Skardu. International Mountain Day and Gilgit Baltistan

International Mountain Day is celebrated in Islamabad.  The International Mountain Day is celebrated by Italian Embassy Pakistan, EvK2CNR and UNDP in the capital, Islamabad. Gilgit Baltistan's CM Hafiz Hafeez Ur Rehman was the chief guest for this event and his Excellency Stefano Pontecorvo was the guest of honour. Other diplomats, journalists, students and people from other walks of life participated in the event. CM Gilgit Baltistan said that GB is blessed with countless natural treasures of which the mountains is excellent example. He said that for the mountains to be protected, it is necessary to fulfill the needs of the local people. Their daily life needs are interwined with the resources of mountains.
