Deosai-The Land of Giants

Travel Diary of Deosai - 2015

Deosai is known for being the land of giants and the roof of the world.  Given this fact, most of its guest are often seeking for adventure and beautiful landscapes, and yes! I happen to be one of those people.

One of the exciting memories of my life are attached with this charming place. We camped here two full moon nights near the shore of Sheosar Lake and under the amazing Deosai sky with only thin sheet of a tent separating me from the elements and it was such a memorable once-in-a-lifetime experience. Deep silence of the night was closely surrounding us like we were being captivated in a jar where nobody can access us.The night was simply enchanting. It's not everyday that you can have the chance to go camping on the roof of the world, so when the opportunity presents itself , I urge you to give this a try!

We were informed that the Brown Bear often visits here to quenched its thirst. Our feelings were somewhat mixed. We were not sure about if it is good that brown bear comes here or it should not. We made a fire around our camping site to keep us safe from the brown bear or you can also say to keep the bear safe from us.

Then our watch starts to locate the bear whenever it comes. We waited the whole night to see if our wish of seeing the brown bear might come true but till the dawn there was no such moment. But wait as soon as the darkness starts to leave the shores of lake and light starts to strike the water in the lake, we witness something moving towards the lake from the other side of lake. Luckily we have binoculars and when we saw it, yes you guess it right it was a Brown Bear and it was not alone. It was accompanied by a two little cubs. It was amazing moment to witness. We were so lucky to see it through our eyes after watching so many documentaries about it.

Our wish finally come true.

To Be Continued..
